I am an integrative counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist meaning I believe in your capacity for insight and growth and utilise specialised approaches and skills to inform our work. I aim to be flexible and creative in meeting your preferences and needs. At all times we move at a pace comfortable for you. We agree a personalised therapy plan which we review together to ensure the optimum experience and outcomes for you.

Hypnotherapy uses powerful change techniques utilising a natural state of mind similar to the R.E.M dreaming state to help you experience a deeply relaxing release and assist resolution of troubling experiences, feelings , thoughts. and sensations. You are in control at all times because as a hypnotherapist I guide you in entering self-hypnosis so that we can work effectively together. This approach is also a highly effective coaching method for everything from preparation for stressful events to positive goals you wish to achieve in life.
Specialisms offered are analytical, clinical and medical hypnotherapy.
Medical hypnotherapy practise
Alongside my psychotherapeutic practise I integrate my healthcare training in offering a specialist medical hypnotherapy clinic. This assists holistically with mental and physical health concerns, the impact of medical/dental diagnosis, symptoms, interventions, treatments and surgery. Examples are anxiety. depression, chronic pain, psychosomatic experience, promoting immunity and preparation for and recovery from interventions. Whether you are affected yourself or caring for someone with these understandable concerns I can support your mental, emotional and physical health through hypnotherapeutic counselling. Hypnotherapy is recognised as a complementary therapy and valuable alternative/addition to drugs and anaesthesia and for promoting immunity, recovery and healing.

Pain is your bodies way of telling you something is wrong and is important to understand this both from an orthodox medical stance as well as seeking additional support.

Combining contemporary neuroscientific knowledge with therapeutic principles for change, there are a number of robust approaches to help process ,overcome and move beyond the effects of sustained or single event traumatic experience. EMDR, polyvagal work and hypnotherapeutic processes are examples of these. A careful assessment is undertaken to ensure that any trauma work is commenced and progressed safely In an appropriate format and delivery medium.

Mindfulness is a way of focussing on learning to observe and experience yourself without judgement, to become aware moment by moment of what is affecting you and how .To learn to be fully present with yourself and life. This perception can helpfully orientate your relationship with and experience of living.
This can be true of all therapy, however mindfulness focuses specifically on this aspect of understanding yourself and your life

Creativity connects with an ability we all have to express ourselves imaginatively in life You do not have to be artistic to benefit from exploring yourself and your situation in this way! Some people find this is an effective way to connect with their experience, understand and find answers to their problems. Different media can be used both in session and between sessions for insight and reflection.

CBT helps us look at the thought patterns we create about our experiences and how these affect feelings and behaviour. The focus is on learning to identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns to experience better ways of relating to our feelings and developing helpful behaviours in response to this. This can be true of all therapy, however CBT focuses specifically on this aspect of understand yourself and your life
